About the event
“If you would like to go fast, you go alone; if you’d like to go far, you go with others” therefore we offer a guided experience of history, story, and reflection along the Camino de Sonoma.
The route was discovered as a conduit between cultures, and this healing path has been established to engage the story of the land and the pilgrims who walk it. Because of this, we are invited to walk purposefully while we enjoy the wonder of each step furthering an encounter with the exceptional beauty of this land.

>> Distance & Route:
Our opening circle and reflection begin at the intersection of Morelli Land and Occidental Camp Meeker Rd (street parking). We’ll be across the intersection from the Sasquatch statue. The Redwood shaded Occidental Camp Meeker Rd will begin our day as we parallel Dutch Bill Creek into the heart of the charming bohemian community of Occidental (good opportunity to refill coffee and bathroom breaks before our ascent). We’ll pause at the foot of Coleman Valley Rd to discuss the history of Occidental and calibrate ourselves, then continue West uphill out of downtown. Walking poles may be helpful, note we’re on paved road. We’ll divert right onto Willow Creek Rd and duck under the coastal tree line, weaving our way among the quaint and quiet neighborhood that guards the park entrance. Well conclude at the Timber Company gate a few hundred yards before we run out of pavement and thru traffic.
> Food: packe your own food and hydration, there will be a brief stop in Occidental if food/water is needed.
> Restrooms: in keeping with our theme of the day, there are no restroom accommodations on this trail, we advise packing personal wilderness potty needs in your daypack.
> Theme: “Perseverance”
> You need to RSVP for each day you will join us. There is a 17 pilgrim limit per day.
Remember to bring your passports. Passports and stickers will be available for those new to the Camino de Sonoma.
